It's an 8 minute video of him doing digital inks on a PVP strip. Look up some of the other stuff he's recorded under the "more from this user" tab. There should be some cover coloring and other cool stuff. I saw what he was doing... and it 'kinda' makes sense... I know the guy uses illustrator... and he probably has some 'kung fu' with that program that I don't know... but even then... why?? Of course... at $3.50 a pop... I go through my lil' Micron pens too quick... hang on... maybe he's on to something here... never having to buy another pen would certainly be a good motivation to try this out... I own a tablet... and I hoped when I got it that it would open up a 'world of possibilities', but for the most part, I'm way more comfortable doing everything with a mouse and keyboard than trying to use my tablet. Mr. Kurtz on the other hand, has to be a friggin' NINJA with a stylus... I'm gonna 'play' with this... and see what I can do... the boy's got skills... that's for sure... -Out!

Or is there something you can use that allows you to draw with a stylus that comes out looking like actually ink? Is that what you mean by tablet? I ask because the little I've used a stylus (palm, pocket PC, etc), it never seems to really be 100% in sync with what I'm writing. So I can imagine actually DRAWING would drive me insane. It actually uses the 'pressure' of your 'stroke' to assign line weight... (Yeah... that sounds REAL bad!!) In 'theory' it's friggin' awesome... you can get something close to what you could achieve with a 'brush'... In 'reality' tho'... I've never had that much luck with it... I just scanned a sketch that I did... I'll throw up some visuals of my 'progress' in a few minutes... I'm gonna give it another try... Stay tuned!!

Original Sketch... 2. 1st attempt at "Digital Inks" 3. 2nd attempt at "Digital Inks" **This one is a little better, as I got a little more 'control' over the stylus this time... 4. Just the 'inks' alone... He's gotta have some sort of 'filter' on there to clean up his strokes... something to smooth out the lines a bit... cuz' these lines are all over the place... no matter how much I try to keep them straight or along a pencil line... it just jumps all over... I'll look into that... there may be something out there that does this... Anyway... I certainly feel like a have a lot more 'control' with my pens... so unless I can figure out something to 'smooth' out the lines... I'd probably just as soon stay with what I 'know'... Heckuva cool demo tho'... definitely interested in what he's using tho'... cool stuff... and he makes it look so easy!!!

I didn't do too bad when it came to pencilling freehand w/ the tablet, I haven't tried inking anything really yet. Neb, what program are you using? Manga studion/anime pro or photoshop?

Photoshop... it's all about the photoshop!!! I have a suspicion, that there is some 'tweaking' I can do with the properties of my tablet that will effect some of what I'm trying to accomplish with it... But in all honesty... I find myself less inclined to walk away from the 'traditional' pen and paper method of inking... Don't get me wrong... what our boy Scott is doing is frickin' amazing... And if I could find a way to make it work for me... I'd be all over it... but I can't really sell myself on 'reinventing the wheel' for my stuff... at least not yet. I'll try to get a few questions together for Scott about some things that I have questions on... (I'd really like to sit down with him sometime and check out how he does it in person... that would answer a LOT of questions I have) But at this juncture... I actually kinda like inking... it's not the 'chore' it always used to be... in fact, I find it kinda relaxing... I mean... after all... I'm just 'TRACING!' Hahaha Anyway... I'll probably still play around with it... if nothing else it was nice to blow the dust off my expensive friggin' tablet... who knows... maybe I'll start using it again for coloring... or at least for shading... -Neb Out!
